POSITION SUMMARY:
Primary duties are to support the Server, Systems and Applications Administrator in daily support activities.
Responsible for assisting with the server/workstation administration and daily server operations, the telephony systems, and enterprise applications, including installations, and troubleshooting of server related hardware and software. 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (no more than 12):
  • Administer Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy with the assistance of Server Application and Apps Admin.
  • Assist Server and Application Admin with SCCM/Intune Operating System Deployment and software packaging.
  • Coordinates with the Server and Application Admin on the deployment of servers, both physical and virtual: cabling, power, and the equipment racks.
  • Assists with the operation and maintenance of the telecommunications network including phone setup and deployment, monitoring the communication network, coordinating upgrades, and troubleshooting system problems.
  • Assist the Server and Application Admin with troubleshooting and resolving system problems at the server and enterprise application levels; and upgrades same levels of architecture to maximize productivity and meet overall business needs.
  • Provides necessary after hours support for problem resolution, upgrades, patching of enterprise servers and operating systems software as needed.
  • Works with the Server and Applications Admin and other vendors to maintain and support multiple Enterprise systems including, but not limited to Microsoft Office 365, MS Exchange, MS SQL, Active Directory, VMware, and Server Lifecycle management tools.
  • Assist with projects when needed for software and hardware implementations to ensure the completion of project objectives in a timely manner.
  • Assist with the installation and configuration of server operating systems, approving firmware updates, system and security patches and updates, and ensures proper testing.
  • Involved with disaster recovery procedures working with Server and Application Admin using system backup solutions.
  • Assists students, faculty, and staff with diagnosing and solving computer and software problems to include tickets escalated from desktop support.
  • Responsible for updating the IT equipment inventory system and coordinates with Desktop Support personnel to ensure accurate inventory of hardware.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES (as applicable):

EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree from a college or university or four years related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years experience in the areas of desktop administration, systems management, and/or software management.
  • Experience in troubleshooting server/workstation hardware and software is required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Exchange and/or O365 administration is required.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory is required.
  • Knowledge of scripting and PowerShell programming is desired.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS (as applicable):
  • Microsoft Certified (preferred)
  • Microsoft Server certification desired (MCSE, MCTS, MCITP, etc.).
