Adjunct - Agricultural Business

POSITION SUMMARY:
Engages students in the teaching/learning process, works assigned schedule, represents the college in the community, and performs other related duties as required.  


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Plans and teaches courses that fulfill the curriculum goals and objectives of the Terra State Agricultural Business program.
Employ appropriate assessment techniques to measure student performance in achieving course goals and objectives. 
Communicate progress in the courses to students in a timely manner.
Determine and submit students’ grades in accordance with established college policies and procedures.
Manage and prepare required supplies, materials, equipment, textbooks and other instructional supplies for agricultural business labs and equipment (once established); includes required paperwork, record tracking, communications, research, etc.

Coordinates and maintains the agricultural business labs and equipment (once established); this includes arranging for repairs and ordering as needed.
Recommends needed changes in curriculum based on assessment data.
Remains current with subject matter and instructional methodology
Supports the mission of the program, division, and College. 
Completes other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in agriculture or related field required.  Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in modern agriculture or related field required. 
  • Minimum of two years’ teaching experience at the college level preferred.
     
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to effectively communicate one-on-one, in small groups, and in classroom situations.
  • Ability to develop and complete projects and tasks without continued direct supervision.
  • Proficient in word-processing and presentation software, internet, and e-mail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse group of students.
  • Demonstrated ability to advise students.
  • Effective verbal, written, and listening communication skills.
  • Effective problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work a combination of days/evening/weekends, and/or off campus.
