Position Summary:         
  • Responsible for creating content for all social media platforms maintained by Terra State Athletics as well as the Athletic Department’s website with strict adherence to all NJCAA, OCCAC and College regulations.
  • Performance coach is responsible for all aspects of developing comprehensive training programs that will provide for the safe development of physical and mental performance.
  • Provides assistance to the Athletic Director for game management duties and supervision.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include:
  Media Manager
  • Directs the planning, organizing, scheduling, and posting of social media and website content.
  • Works with the Athletic Director to create templates that follow approved TSCC guidelines for colors and fonts.
  • Updates social media platforms with contest information and results.
  • Schedules posts that showcase human interest stories in Athletics.
  • Builds a photograph inventory of athletes, staff and event photos for use throughout the year across platforms.  To be stored on the Athletics Google photo drive.
  • Updates old and creates new marketing materials in support of athletics to include electronic materials and displays as well as handouts and giveaways to support recruiting.
  • Publicizes camp programs and fundraising activities.
  • Works with Athletic Director and Head Coaches to develop marketing through the Athletics website and social media.
Performance Coach
  • Directs the planning and scheduling of the weight/fitness areas.
  • Provides supervision, education and training to ensure the safety of users as well as equipment integrity.
  • Works with head coaches of athletic teams to develop and administer in season performance training based on the needs of the athletes and established expectations for on court/field success.
  • Works with head coaches of athletic teams to develop and communicate off season/summer training opportunities for improved strength, speed, agility and flexibility for new and returning student athletes.
  • Works with Athletic Trainer to develop recovery programs for injured athletes.  Works with the athletes to provide safe return to performance protocols.
  • Works with Maintenance staff on the upkeep and preventative maintenance for equipment.
  • Works with Athletic Director to develop budgetary needs.
  • Helps to provide supervision of the fitness areas for non-athletic department use.
  • This position will include frequent evenings and weekends.
  • Performs duties as assigned.
Game Management
  • Assists Athletic Director with assigning responsibilities to game day personnel.
  • Provides training to game day personnel as needed.
  • Assists Athletic Director in facility set-up for home contests.
  • Provides administrative supervision of home events as needed.

Program Area Responsibilities (as applicable):
  • Responsibilities include the physical development of student athletes; planning and implementation of injury recovery; guarantees safe use of equipment and provides instruction as needed; maintenance of equipment and space; may provide supervision of athletic events.
  • Responsibilities include photography of student athletes and events; planning, designing, and directing social media and website posting; updating old and creating new athletic department marketing materials and displays; being an ambassador of the Athletic Department and College.
  • Works effectively with students and staff with an acceptance level of civility and discourse.
  • Works as an ambassador of the College and the College Athletic Department and promotes the vision and mission of the College.
  • Supports the mission and strategic priorities of the program, division, and College.  Actively participates in events sponsored by the campus for the community as requested by the Athletic Director.
Education and/or Work Experience:
  • Bachelors degree in related field required, with emphasis on exercise science/kinesiology/physiology.  Additional certifications preferred.
Other Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to effectively communicate one-on-one, in small groups, and in large group situations.
  • Ability to develop and complete projects and tasks without continued direct supervision.
  • Proficient in word-processing and presentation software, internet, and e-mail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse student and community population. 
  • Effective verbal, written, and listening communication skills.
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work a combination of days/evening/weekend schedules.
  • Willingness to advance the goals of the Athletics Department.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations (as applicable):
  • Performance related certifications preferred.
  • CPR and AED certification must be up to date.
